In May 2016, a company that specializes in designing, manufacturing, and distributing automotive products began its expansion into a new location. The company maintained employees in its existing space, and partnered with Rightsize to PLAN and FURNISH its new global headquarters.

“The client wanted to showcase an industrial, yet modern feel,” said Caitlin Monson, workplace solutions manager. “The end result captured the company’s history and culture , while also looking toward the future.”

Rightsize utilized a BLENDED SOLUTION to fit the client’s workflow and employees’ needs, managing the process from visualization to installation. The office blended classic and contemporary pieces to create a unique, branded look. The lobby, the cafeteria and the boardroom displayed walls made of reclaimed barn wood, crafted by local vendors. Rightsize installed luxury vinyl tile flooring in the lobby and major walkways, as well as carpet tiles in a herringbone pattern throughout the workspace. The carpet incorporated four different colors, ranging from gray to blue, to form a beautiful ombre effect in the office.

The open floor plan captured the client’s vision of an airy and collaborative environment. Rightsize used remanufactured Herman Miller Ethospace workstations equipped with a custom wood laminate surface, rail tile and built-in dry erase boards. The new task chairs, from SitOnIt Seating, had white frames, gray seats and blue mesh backs. For the private offices, Rightsize selected Global furnishings, including height-adjustable tables and matching task chairs.

“We did quite a bit of value-engineering with the office to combine storage and seating,” said Monson. “Rightsize installed cushioned window seats with filing underneath, and a few file banks with stools where people can sit and brainstorm as a group.”

Rightsize also took the opportunity to add eye-catching and functional elements in the office’s shared spaces. The cafeteria was equipped with homey Versteel butcher block tables and Encore stools and chairs. The lounge was furnished with a large round sofa, comfortable chairs and loveseats, and laptop tables. Each of the multiple conference and media rooms had its own distinctive look; one featured a striking V-shaped table, and another offered a TV, and a bar-height table to be used for meetings or drop-in workstations. Outside the main boardroom, Rightsize set up a “warm-up/cool-down” area with a wide-wood gathering table where employees can sit and talk, before or after meetings.

“We worked with and incorporated ideas from multiple decision makers on-site throughout the project,” said Monson. “It’s important that we stay true to the client’s vision, while also staying within the timeline and budget.”
