When a farm-to-chef wholesale distributor emerged from Internet sales into the Chicago area, Rightsize handled the space planning and furniture specification and procurement for the approximately 10,000-square-foot retail center, market and corporate office.

The young executives who started the company needed workstations for their 10 existing employees, plus 30 more for projected growth and the new talent they planned to attract. Rightsize also furnished the private offices and several meeting spaces. The desired look was clean and modern, something that would incorporate their brand and attract distributors and people who would eventually be their clients. They wanted something eye-catching and professional that reflected the company.

To achieve the look, the account manager used refurbished Herman Miller for the workstations, all new reception and lounge furniture from Source Seating International, new Three-H Furniture Systems in the private offices including some sit-to-stand desks, and Mayline in the conference rooms. The flooring was new, Mannington carpet tile.

“It was built from the ground up and we got out there when it was just a concrete slab,” said the account manager. “We did the flooring, which wound up being a bit of a challenge because the contractor had just laid the cement and typically that needs to cure for six to eight months. So, we had to do moisture testing and glue the carpet down in a different way for it to actually adhere.”

Rightsize managed the entire project within three months from initial kickoff meeting to install in May of 2015.

“The client was very happy with the results. They have another produce company and we ended up working on that design project for them three months later,” she said. “They have referred us to a few jobs as well – we always appreciate that!”
